Dental Insurance – Fort Worth, TX

What to Know
About Your Dental Benefits

Dental insurance benefits are mainly intended to help patients get their most essential dental treatments (i.e. exams, cleanings and X-rays) completed at a far more affordable price compared to having no dental insurance at all. Whether you receive your benefits from your employer (as most people do) or elsewhere, we want to make sure you understand a few key points before you schedule your next visit. Our team is more than happy to break down your coverage ahead of time, so you’re never caught off guard by surprise expenses.

Understanding How Dental Insurance Works

For starters, dental insurance is meant to be used routinely, not solely when you need it. Many patients assume that dental insurance operates in this way because that’s how their medical insurance works. However, this is not the case. Instead of waiting for a serious illness or injury to appear, you should be taking advantage of the benefits you paid for to ensure your oral health remains in good condition. The result is lower dental care costs, fewer interruptions in your day-to-day schedule, less time in the dental chair, and fewer dental emergencies due to oral neglect.

What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers

Most plans will cover specific types of care in the same way. However, each plan will come with its own unique stipulations you should read in full. Below, you’ll find that most dental plans offer coverage for preventive, minor restorative, and major restorative care in the following structure:

Preventive Care – exams, cleanings, X-rays, and sometimes fluoride therapy. Provides close or up to 100% coverage.

Minor Restorative Care – dental fillings and sometimes root canal therapy. Offers between 70 and 80% coverage.

Major Restorative Care – dental crowns, bridges and dentures. Covered up to 50% in most cases.

Cosmetic Dentistryand Dental Implants – typically not covered by dental insurance.

We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-of-Network Providers

Our dental office is currently in-network with Delta Dental. Being in-network means we have agreed to charge specific rates for certain treatments as laid out in a contract between us and the insurance provider. While being in-network generally means lower overall costs, it doesn’t mean we won’t accept all other PPO dental plans. In some cases, being out-of-network can result in similar costs as we do our best to keep dental fees fair and reasonable.
